Oh hello!
That feels like a cheesy way to start an ‘about me’, but we’re sticking with it. I find these incredibly awkward to write & still sound authentic, but I’m gonna try my best!
My name is Caitlin & I'm the artist behind the Pick and Print Co. I create fun, whimsical, and colorful illustrations by digitally drawing them on my computer. I have my degree in photography and design, but the Pick and Print Co started when I found myself creating art as a way to unwind after work & escape the world a little. I decided to start selling prints as instant downloads and then grew from there.
Even though this started as a way to escape, most of my designs are inspired by what I love most in the world. Nature, music, books, and people fighting for everyone on our beautiful planet to live with equality, dignity, peace, and love. And Whimsy! We can’t forget the whimsy!
Using art to make an impact is a big part of what I try to do here. But I didn't want to only make art that’s messaging was impactful, I wanted to also make sure the sales themselves were.
This is where the idea for the ‘Exist Loudly’ shirt design was born. 100% of the profits for that shirt are donated to LGBTQ+ affirming organizations. I wanted to extend that idea to all of my products so that every purchase would give back. At minimum, $1 from every purchase is donated. quick fun facts:
I love potatoes and believe they are underrated. seriously, name a more Versatile food! I also just read a book where the first sentence was about this. which is why i feel totally ok with it being the first fun fact.
i’ve been obsessed with dogs my entire life & currently have two quirky wonderful ones named Zelda & Scully. they are total opposites but fit together like a sitcom pairing.
mountains over beach- always, especially the blue ridge mountains
Some authors I’m loving right now: caroline kelly franklin (nomnom yum yum, so fun- iYKYK), alix e. harrow (if she writes it, i’ll read it, incredible), kimberly lemming (don’t judge, so fun, so weird & she is a fantastic writer), J.R.R Tolkien (Very late to the game with the lOTR series), & Tracy Deonn (don’t count out ya fantasy) (all vastly different & incredible in their genres)
house plants make me happy- but i stick to the easy ones. the amount of pothos, Philodendrons, ZZ plants, and snake plants in my home borders on excessive.
i’m a socially awkward Anxious introvert so this little shop is out of my comfort zone but also brings me so much joy! this also why i prefer to keep this virtual for now and not do markets - yet :)
